Fitted Kitchens and Wardrobes in Berkhamsted and Tring
We design, build and fit kitchens and wardrobes for homes in Berkhamsted and Tring, all made at our workshop in Chesham. Many homes in both towns are Victorian or Edwardian, and they share the same storage puzzles: narrow kitchens, chimney-breast alcoves and loft rooms with sloping ceilings.
Homes we work on in Berkhamsted and Tring
- Berkhamsted: Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas, many between the High Street and the Grand Union Canal.
- Tring: period cottages and terraces around the town centre.
Making the most of a period layout
- Galley kitchens: a narrow kitchen can work harder with full-height storage and careful planning. Our ideas for small kitchens explain some of the options.
- Alcove units either side of a chimney breast, for living rooms, bedrooms or a home office.
- Loft wardrobes built under the eaves of a loft conversion.
- Under-stairs storage for coats, shoes and the things that have nowhere else to go.
A similar project: wardrobes under a loft roofline
Standard flat-pack wardrobes do not fit under a sloped loft ceiling, which was exactly the problem in this loft conversion. We built a run of white matt hinged-door wardrobes carcassed to follow the roofline precisely, so the storage runs right to where the ceiling meets the floor, with each interior configured to the height available at that point. How it works from our Chesham workshop
Our team has over 15 years of experience designing and fitting bespoke furniture.
- Free design visit: a designer comes to your home in Berkhamsted or Tring to measure up and talk through your brief, budget and style. The visit is free and comes with no obligation. It usually takes 60 to 90 minutes, and the designer brings material samples so you can see finishes in your own light.
- 3D design and quote: Within 5 working days you receive a 3D design and a written, itemised quote. Nothing moves to manufacture until you have approved it.
- Workshop build: your furniture is made to order at our workshop at 6 Cavendish Road, Chesham, not bought in as flat-pack.
- Fitting: Our own fitters install everything, scribing units to your walls and floor so there are no gaps, and tidy up afterwards. Nothing is subcontracted, and every project is backed by a 10-year guarantee.
Allow 8 to 12 weeks from design sign-off to a finished kitchen, with the installation itself usually 5 days on site. A fitted wardrobe usually takes 2 to 4 weeks from design visit to completion; most are fitted in a day, and a full walk-in takes 3 to 5 days on site.
Berkhamsted and Tring FAQs
Can you make a narrow galley kitchen work better?
Yes. A galley with a chimney breast in the middle of the only usable wall is a standard problem for made-to-measure cabinetry. Compact runs, full-height storage to the ceiling and integrated appliances keep the sightline unbroken.
Do you build alcove units either side of a chimney breast?
Yes. Each unit is made to its alcove’s measurements, which are rarely the same on both sides.
Can you fit wardrobes under the eaves in a loft conversion?
Yes. In loft conversions we generally place hanging on the full-height wall and run shoe storage or drawers under the slope, where the head height would otherwise be wasted. See our loft wardrobes.
Do you use your own fitters?
Yes. Everything is fitted by our own team. Nothing is subcontracted, which is why our 10-year guarantee covers the installation as well as the furniture.
