Fitted Kitchens and Wardrobes in Hemel Hempstead
We design, build and fit kitchens, wardrobes and media walls for Hemel Hempstead homes, all made at our workshop in Chesham. Much of the town was built as a New Town after 1947, so many homes have 1950s and 1960s layouts that were never planned for today’s kitchens or for how much we now store.
Homes we work on in Hemel Hempstead
- New Town neighbourhoods: 1950s and 1960s houses with compact kitchens, small third bedrooms and useful space under the stairs.
- The Old Town: older buildings around the High Street.
What we make for Hemel Hempstead homes
- Fitted kitchens that rethink a compact 1960s layout. For simple, uncluttered ideas, see minimalist kitchen ideas.
- Sliding door wardrobes for box bedrooms.
- Under-stairs storage with drawers and pull-outs.
- Media walls for living rooms. Many are fitted in a single day.
A similar project: a cramped galley kitchen opened up
This kitchen had been a cramped galley with freestanding appliances eating into what little worktop there was. We fitted light grey high-gloss cabinetry along an L-shaped run, with a worktop that steps down into a dark waterfall-edge peninsula for a breakfast bar, and a full-height column so the double oven and American-style fridge freezer sit flush. How it works from our Chesham workshop
Our team has over 15 years of experience designing and fitting bespoke furniture.
- Free design visit: a designer comes to your home in Hemel Hempstead to measure up and talk through your brief, budget and style. The visit is free and comes with no obligation. It usually takes 60 to 90 minutes, and the designer brings material samples so you can see finishes in your own light.
- 3D design and quote: Within 5 working days you receive a 3D design and a written, itemised quote. Nothing moves to manufacture until you have approved it.
- Workshop build: your furniture is made to order at our workshop at 6 Cavendish Road, Chesham, not bought in as flat-pack.
- Fitting: Our own fitters install everything, scribing units to your walls and floor so there are no gaps, and tidy up afterwards. Nothing is subcontracted, and every project is backed by a 10-year guarantee.
Allow 8 to 12 weeks from design sign-off to a finished kitchen, with the installation itself usually 5 days on site. A fitted wardrobe usually takes 2 to 4 weeks from design visit to completion; most are fitted in a day, and a full walk-in takes 3 to 5 days on site.
Hemel Hempstead FAQs
Can you change a 1960s kitchen layout?
Yes. Changing the layout is common. We coordinate our measuring and delivery dates around your builder’s programme. We do not carry out structural work ourselves, so you will need a separate contractor for that. As well as the cabinetry, budget for associated trades such as flooring, electrics and plumbing.
What can you fit in a box bedroom?
Sliding doors and full-height units get the most from a small room. A box room of 6 to 8 square metres can also make a good dressing room, and a single-wall layout needs about 1.5m by 2m.
Can you use the space under the stairs?
Yes. Our cabinets are built to measure, so no space is wasted. See our under-stairs storage.
Do you build media walls as well as kitchens?
Yes. Many of our media walls are fitted in a single day, and larger, full-height or stone-clad builds typically take two to four days. See our media walls.
