Fitted Kitchens and Wardrobes in Rickmansworth and Chorleywood

We design, build and fit kitchens and wardrobes for homes in Rickmansworth and Chorleywood, all made at our workshop in Chesham, along the same Metropolitan line. Many homes here were built in the 1920s and 1930s as part of Metro-land, and their owners usually want new kitchens and wardrobes that keep the house’s period character.

Homes we work on in Rickmansworth and Chorleywood

  • Metro-land semis and detached houses, with bay windows, picture rails and chimney-breast alcoves.
  • Arts and Crafts houses in Chorleywood.
  • Larger homes on the Moor Park estate.

Keeping period character

New joinery should look as if it belongs in the house. Shaker doors in a painted finish suit most 1930s rooms, and fretwork wardrobes add a decorative panel. For kitchens, period details such as raised-panel doors, heritage shades, brass or ceramic hardware, and moulded cornice and plinth detailing give the finished room the sense it was always meant to be there.

What we make for Rickmansworth and Chorleywood homes

A similar project: floor-to-ceiling bedroom wardrobes

The client wanted maximum storage along one bedroom wall without it looking like a bank of flat-pack doors. We built a floor-to-ceiling four-door wardrobe in matt stone cream with black-framed edging and long recessed pull handles, plus an open shelving column alongside. Running it to the ceiling closes the gap that standard wardrobes leave on top. See the bedroom wardrobe project, or browse all our projects.

How it works from our Chesham workshop

Our team has over 15 years of experience designing and fitting bespoke furniture.

  • Free design visit: a designer comes to your home in Rickmansworth or Chorleywood to measure up and talk through your brief, budget and style. The visit is free and comes with no obligation. It usually takes 60 to 90 minutes, and the designer brings material samples so you can see finishes in your own light.
  • 3D design and quote: Within 5 working days you receive a 3D design and a written, itemised quote. Nothing moves to manufacture until you have approved it.
  • Workshop build: your furniture is made to order at our workshop at 6 Cavendish Road, Chesham, not bought in as flat-pack.
  • Fitting: Our own fitters install everything, scribing units to your walls and floor so there are no gaps, and tidy up afterwards. Nothing is subcontracted, and every project is backed by a 10-year guarantee.

Allow 8 to 12 weeks from design sign-off to a finished kitchen, with the installation itself usually 5 days on site. A fitted wardrobe usually takes 2 to 4 weeks from design visit to completion; most are fitted in a day, and a full walk-in takes 3 to 5 days on site.

Rickmansworth and Chorleywood FAQs

Can new fitted furniture keep a 1930s home’s character?

Yes, with the right door style, finish and proportions. We design around original features instead of boxing them in. Our period kitchen project shows painted Shaker cabinetry built around an exposed beam.

Can you build a walk-in wardrobe in a larger home?

Yes. See our walk-in wardrobes for layouts from a single wall to a full island dressing room.

Do you have a showroom in Rickmansworth?

No. We are based in Chesham and do not run a showroom. Instead a designer comes to your home and brings samples, finishes and the design with them, so you choose materials in the light of the actual room, and there is no showroom overhead built into the price.

Do you use your own fitters?

Yes. Everything is fitted by our own team. Nothing is subcontracted, which is why our 10-year guarantee covers the installation as well as the furniture.
